MISSION STATEMENT

The Sadhu Vaswani Center – Atlanta (SVC Atlanta) seeks to bear witness to the truth that there is but One Life flowing in all – men, birds, animals, things, animate and inanimate.

The SVC Atlanta believes that life must have a spiritual orientation and promotes activities for the cultural, educational, intellectual, and spiritual advancement of all. We endeavor to serve all communities in need, irrespective of caste, color, or creed.

The Sadhu Vaswani Center – Atlanta, Inc., is organized as a non-profit institution within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.

Dada J. P. Vaswani is the spiritual head of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, which is located in Pune, India. We have been fortunate and blessed to host his visits 9 times here in Atlanta (1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2007 and 2008) and we are looking forward to having His darshan here again.

The activities of the Center are as follows:

SATSANG/Fellowship: Held every Sunday from 4 to 5:15 p.m.
Senior Citizen Satsang: Held every Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
GURKUL/Children’s Classes: Held twice/month and include Seva at Homeless Shelters.

Please Note: Families are encouraged to bring their children & friends to the weekly Satsang, Seva & Children’s classes.

In addition to the above monthly sevas, the following service projects/programs are organized:

January: In observance of Sadhu T. L. Vaswani’s Death Anniversary (Jan. 16th is the Anniversary day), a Food Drive is conducted along with a “Gift for Sight” drive whereby a donation of $50 covers one eye operation; This money is sent to The Sadhu Vaswani Mission in Pune, India to be utilized at the K. K. Eye Institute for cataract surgeries.

February: We celebrate our Mission’s Thanksgiving Week: Socks are collected and distributed to the elderly residents at local Nursing Homes.

August: To celebrate Dadaji J. P. Vaswani’s birthday, a Children’s Education Fund is collected whereby a donation of $50 covers one needy child’s education for one academic year at the Sadhu Vaswani Mission’s schools in India. This is a one year commitment from the donors.

November: In honor of Sadhu T. L. Vaswani’s Birthday we conduct a Blanket Drive, taking up new blankets OR donations to purchase them. These blankets are distributed to homeless shelters in Atlanta and to the homeless in Pune, India.

Additional Opportunities:

Volunteer Teachers:

If you would like to volunteer your time or know of any high school students who would like to earn credit for volunteering, we are looking for more teachers to help us run classes.

(After all, these are our children so if we don’t make the time for them, who will?)

We cover a variety of topics from yoga to conversational Hindi, from learning bhajans and prayers to taking an in-depth look at all of our Gods and Hindu festivals.  Classes are interactive and designed to be entertaining as well as educational.

Kindly click on the link below if you would like to join us and bring a 1″ white ring binder to store all the Hindi, puzzles, games, stories & bhajans we are going to learn this year!

Back To School Supply Drive:

SVC Atlanta partners with homeless shelters in connection with their back-to-school supply drives.  In 2015, SVC partnered with Our House, which is a non-profit early childhood education center and emergency shelter located near downtown Atlanta.  In 2016, SVC partnered with Nicholas House, which is a nonprofit agency that operates a transitional housing shelter as well as scattered apartment sites for homeless families.

The Moment of Calm:

The Moment of Calm is a simple concept that addresses an urgent need in our world – that of love and peace.  We believe that there can be no world peace without peace in the heart.  Anyone can participate in this global initiative by simply observing 2 minutes of silence on August 2 and 2pm to forgive and seek forgiveness.  This act, when collectively done, can raise world consciousness and engulf humanity in a wave of love and peace.  In 2016, over 18.2 million people participated from across the globe, including Morocco, UAE, UK, Spain, USA, India, Singapore, South America, South Africa, China and Taiwan.  The Moment of Calm has received tremendous support and enthusiasm from people from all walks of life.  COME…

Let us join this growing force of peace.

The Moment of Calm marks the birth time of an Apostle of love and peace – Rev. Dada J.P. Vaswani, Spiritual Head of Sadhu Vaswani Mission.  He affirms, “Forgiveness creates peace in the mind, which in turn ensures a well-balanced body.”
